Podium, Canada’s national choral conference and festival, is co-presented by Choral Canada and one of Canada’s provincial choral organizations every two years.
The conference and festival provide unique opportunities for professional development through performances, keynote presentations, interest sessions, conducting masterclasses, numerous workshops, and reading sessions for conductors, choirs, administrators, students and choral enthusiasts. The festival features outstanding performances by Canadian choirs including the National Youth Choir and other invited ensembles.

Podium 2018 on the EDGE: Singing from Sea to Sea to Sea - Highlight Concert #1
The Opening Gala concert for Podium 2018 celebrates the power and possibility of
choral music as a vehicle for the preservation, transmission, growth, and ongoing production
of our traditional musical cultures in Newfoundland and Labrador. This exciting concert will
feature world premieres of six traditional Newfoundland and Labrador song arrangements
created by six of Newfoundland and Labrador’s most prominent and innovative composers.
Choirs from across Newfoundland and Labrador will perform these arrangements in an
exciting show accompanied by a live trad ensemble.

, a multimedia choral symphony with the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra and a choir composed of singers from across the country. In the second half, Swedish a cappella vocal ensemble Solala
present their premiere Canadian performance.
