The Labrador West Arts and culture Centres first performance was held on February 14, 1986 - Rising Tide Theatre production of REVUE 85.

However the Centre did not have a manger or staff until April 1986 when John Fleet was appointed.

Group of interested, artist, music teachers, local theatre group, The Carol Players lobbied Government for an arts complex, and ground was broken for the construction in 1984, It was designed by Beaton Sheppard of St. John’s, and built by Dorset Construction.

The Centre has been steadily in use since hen, presenting a wide range of local, national and international artists. The centre has also been very aware of their Quebec neighbors, and there have been many joint presentations with Fremont over the years.
