Synopsis The renowned Quebec Circus company brings its acclaimed new show “Animal” to St. John’s. With “Animal” Cirque Alfonse takes us on a journey of discovery through a series of slightly surreal farm fables served with a touch of irreverence, impressive virtuosity and the company’s famous comic touch. In this re-invented world, the farm is turned upside down and the barn turned inside out! A gentleman farmer has surrounded himself with some familiar but slightly outlandish creatures in a farm fantasy where clichés are joyfully turned on their head. Cirque Alfonse mixes circus, song, dance and theatre, driven by original live music to create a crowd pleasing show. A production for young and old alike, “Animal” is the farm gone haywire. “In this crazy agricultural universe, the five acrobats metamorphose into singers, dancers, and puppeteers. The most incongruous props - milk cans, tractor wheels and wheelbarrows - become the basis of humorous or poetic tableaux, including several acrobatic duets. The circus numbers (such as where a reclining acrobat twirls a female acrobat with his feet) are particular impressive.
